Is it worth upgrading from 1080p 320Hz to 1440p Ips/MiniLed with upscaling for cinematic games?
Hi, I am running a Ryzen 5 9600X + RX 9060 XT 16GB+ 32GB DDR5 setup on a 1080p 24.5 320Hz IPS Lenovo Legion 25-10 monitor.
I have moved away from competitive shooters to cinematic games and dont like the TAA blur and image quality at 1080p. I like playing at 90-100 fps minimum for that smoothness, so I dont want to drop to 60 FPS.
In RDR2 I use optiscaler to simulate DLAA and play at 120 fps with high-ultra settings because the game only has FSR2. Even that fsr2 looks better than native .
The Question: Is it worth upgrading to 1440p (IPS/MiniLED) now and use upscaling to maintain 90-100 FPS, or should I stay at 1080p with FSR/OptiScaler for that crappy antialiasing until I upgrade my GPU? . I plan on playing more new cinematic games.
I dont want to spend now for a mid 1440p and later spend another money on a higher quality 2 or 4k resolution monitor. I plan on changing my gpu after at least 2 more gpu generations for a better class (rx 9070xt equivalent ).
I assume that 1440p upscaled looks better than 1080p native because the output has almost double the pixels, and the performance would be the same.
