Use of augmentatives
Hi all,
I'm just working through a text book and currently on exercises relating to changing noun endings to add additional meaning. I am already aware of this as a concept, but for augmentatives it states "they are usually used in the masculine form even for feminine words" then gives examples like la strada - lo stradone. However, the actual question it gives me all the la examples stay as la, such as la parola - la parolona. I am pretty sure I've had issues with this book before and it's pretty old (I just wanted something to do whilst outside in the sun that wasn't a screen) so I'd appreciate a natives input to how these are typically treated.
As an aside, it also had questions on pejoratives, and gives multiple endings such as accio or ucolo (m). Is there any particular difference between these, are they regional etc.
Grazie!
