Being a UG Student Feels Like a Crime in My Colleg

Sometimes it feels like power matters more than respect in college.

Recently, while I was simply doing my assigned task in front of PhD scholars, a small misunderstanding turned into something much bigger. Instead of understanding the situation, we as UG students were spoken to in a way that felt disrespectful — as if our role, voice, or efforts didn’t matter. Being ordered around without even checking facts or listening to the people actually involved was disappointing.

What hurt more was the feeling that being an undergraduate student somehow makes us less worthy of respect. Guidance and discipline are part of education, but humiliation and power display should never be.

At a time when a student from our college has recently lost their life — something that deserves transparency, seriousness, and proper attention — it is painful to see energy being spent on minor arguments instead of bigger concerns affecting students.

Students deserve respect, fair treatment, and to be heard — regardless of whether they are UG, PG, or PhD scholars.
