I will get enough rank to get some branches in IIT Bombay. But obvi not CSE. Do companies allow students from branches other than CSE to sit for placements. And what percent of companies allow this. Also i don't really want to focus on my branch and want to pursue coding side by side so which branches are light and don't have much course work from iits other than bombay too.

What are the realistic chances of getting a decent intern?
i dont even know if admission is valid here but here we go.
so i need the hod of the dept of iitr’s signature in a document and need to submit it else i wouldnt be getting accommodation and i have been circling the dept since yesterday afternoon(right after my train reached roorkee) and the hod hasnt arrived in the dept yet like he didnt visit the department even once. i spoke to the office multiple times theyre like they cannot help since they cannot call the hod or something. my parents will be leaving today and i cannot get an accommodation unless and until he signs the doc. WHAT SHOULD I DO? SHOULD I MAIL THE HOD OR FUCKING CALL HIS OFFICE NUMBER GIVEN IN THE WEBSITE IM SO FUCKING DONE.
Really confused about this. I thought it was best to ask in this subreddit. Please give your opinion. Thanks!

Interest/Choice - I have always been interested in CSE/AI/DS and competitive programming and building robots and stuff and ofc I wanted to go in AI development/Machine learning . There is AI/DS in IITR as well but I don't have good enough rank for it .
4.Prestige/oldgenIITs- The main reason I'm getting attracted towards IITR is bcoz of its prestige and quality of companies visiting and internships and peer group consisting of ambitious students . +coding culture coz they recently got selected for ICPC as well .
5.Campus - I don't know whether to consider this as a factor for deciding , but IITR has an old campus but considered best while IITM has naturally scenic campus .
I THEREFORE, SUMMON THE GODS OF WISDOM AND EXPERIENCE, TO GUIDE ME THROUGH THIS PROBLEM .

I saw the curriculum, there is DSA and AI/ML with coding as well . I can also choose neural networks as open elective .
I'm very well interested in Electrical circuits , just AC makes my blood boil sometime but maybe a good lecture on the topic might give a better view. I am also pretty interested in making circuits and stuff , have worked with Arduino and loved it .
Will EE be good for me?? As I heard it's the toughest? Will I get time for extracurriculars and CP ?

What does OA consist of , I mean the topics whether it's DSA , stats or aptitude or something else too?
If DSA is asked , what level is asked should I go all in or is the basics enough ?

firstly, here most of the student choose architecture just because of their low rank, we don't get any other branch at any other top iits , so we thought of choosing iitr architecture over top branches of newer iits or nits
what actually happening in architecture at iitr
the biggest issue is that you will get marks based on face value and attendance and of course C quota, and you will never be able to proof that you should get high marks than because there is no marking scheme to decide marks
for example:
there is a course of design every sem in architecture, thesis is also kind of design, you will get marks based on the how beautiful your plan look , weather it is functional or not, weather it's circulation is good or not , just because you are good at expressing or just because you have boot lick your profs and be around them always you will get good grades
you will never be able to proof , because they will never give you metrics based on which they check the design , just marks , might be they just open the design pdf and just see ooh this is looking good give h[er/im] good grade no discussion , no presentation wtfff...
prof here studied something and are now teaching it ...they have no real life project (only some of them have), they just never able to do it they just focus on theory ...don't no any mathematics.....name any prof which have good level project in this dept. ...in comments

just gave adv 2026 and i want a branch related to coding, data science, maths etc.
core branches me interest nahi hai. i came across mnc at iitr, there are chances i may get it so i wanted to ask about the curriculum.
1)As it is BS-MS, is it more theoritical than the B-Tech degrees ?
Is it difficult compared to other branches ?
Is there scope for going into practical tech fields with a BS-MS in mnc ?
should i give preference to btech in mnc, or btech in cse/aiml in lower iits/top nits (warangal, surathkal) or BS-MS in mnc
please enlighten me with your experience and knowledge.

the thrill of being outside hostel and enjoying your first ever night out in your dream campus feels becomes your core memory of your life.
The thrill of tricking the guard or already being outside the hostel and doing random things with group of 5-6 people doing random things like exploring the whole campus, finding couple spots and actually disturbing them by making random noises in the dark and all ( we all did that), clicking selfies with your group on that new phone that your parents just bought for you, actually singing songs and calling it a mehfil and if some guy with guitar then it will be a hell lot of funnnn.
experiencing actually your first night canteen, eating patties of that RKB, ahhhhhahaha
that first bite will feel surreal, and that cheese, ohhhohoh. Do try it....
attempting to go the Maths department terrace. ( sadly it is closed after 12 ig, not sure fully tho)
going to very random places in the campus and just making wiered noises in dark assuming no one will listen.
clicking photos with Thomson building, in night thomson building feels very beautiful. the clock and the architechture , ahahaha, and wired poses we make with that building, those photos you will remeber for you whole life and these photos will actually hit when you will be leaving the college ;(((
So yes curfew are not restricitng you freedom...
