Tired of the extras

Hello,

This may be an unpopular opinion and that’s ok!!! I’m not judging the people who like the extras and find them useful.

I am looking to vent but that doesn’t mean I don’t love that you love them. I just don’t love them for me and can’t seem to find a way to escape them. It’s why I used to like EC but EC is done.

I love that a lot of you use your planners as journals too. It’s just not for me. I am more interested in utility than whole of life.

I need a daily planner with a full page for each day but I do not need or want:

-Gratitude (Research shows that writing 1 to 2 times a week works better than daily entries and I don’t want my gratitude journal combined with my work schedule, academics, etc)
-any tracking
-goal setting
-reflecting
-fancy fonts and colours

I just want a day per page broken down by hours and space to write my to-do list, notes anything… whatever anyone wants.

I struggle because I need a bit bigger, A5 is challenging for me to see.

Basically I want the EC daily duo lay out with the ability to customize a bit

For me, including the rest is just too much. I wish I could be like a lot of you, it seems so fun, but I’m not.

Small town options for Volunteer experience for MSW (foundation, no BSW)

Edit: Thank you, you amazing group of people. The advice and guidance you e already provided is incredibly helpful.
Thank you!!

Hello,

I have looked through this Reddit to see if my question was already asked and I can’t seem to find anything. Apologies if I missed it and this is repetitive.

I am a middle aged lady (45-48) and have a BA in an unrelated field. My BA was a career change already into an industry that you can’t try until after you graduate. Well I tried it and it is extremely competitive (I am good at it so it’s not competitive for me but…) and the competitive nature creates a very toxic environment. There is only one employer in Canada for this so I can’t just switch.

I am unable to make the impact folks are lead to believe they can make if they enter this industry.

I’ve realized through this work what I want my remaining 15-20 working years to look like and the only option I can find is MSW. The idea of this work and the impact I could have to help improve people’s lives or support people feels purpose driven and I want to contribute.

I am in a small community in BC (I work for this single employer remotely). I have little volunteer experience (5 months on crisis line) and my current role is on the application of gender equality policies in programs funded by a level of gov. I have only been in this role for a year.

So after that long winded intro, my question for all of you lovely SWs is**: how do I gain the required volunteer or work experience to qualify for MSW in a small town in BC? What should I look for?**

I am limited to the online MSW and am worried about this aspect of the application.
