Looking at purchasing my first electric guitar (currently play a steel string acoustic). I’ve narrowed it down to either a Strat (SSS) or a Tele and can get either for similar prices second hand. Both player 1 variants and the strat is a 2019 and the Tele 2023.

I’m a big John Mayer fan, however am still pretty new to guitar so don’t really want to pigeon hole myself just yet in to any particular sound or style.

Leaning towards the Strat, but more than open to suggestions. Side question, is the Tele noticeably more uncomfortable to play than the Strat, noting there aren’t body cut aways?

Thanks for your input. I can imagine I probably can’t go too wrong either way, just would like to hear what people have to say.
