I’m 23f and 2 weeks ago got my first boyfriend (19m), who is a white christian boy. (yes i know there’s an age gap lol idc though. he is abt to be 20 and he’s very mature for his age. we both work the same retail job so there is no power imbalance either).

A brown man saw us, found out who i was, and got his sister to track my parents and snitch to them.

My parents have said they will disown me if I stay with him. But I love him. And I refuse to marry a muslim because quite frankly, i’m not religious.

Dad told mum he’ll divorce her if I leave and get with my boyfriend.

My mum will kill herself if he does, because she has no support system here apart from her in laws.

So what now? Should I kill myself instead?

I come from a Muslim family, though I am not religious myself.

I have only just started dating a boy for the first time. I feel so depressed about how I have to keep him a secret. I am literally 23. I will be kicked out and disowned if my parents find out.

I feel so sad. Getting disowned is in my future. This culture sucks.
