Accessibility accommodation question
Does anyone know if you decline a wheelchair at the check in counter after requesting assistance to the gate, will they cancel your accommodation request for the remaining flights on your ticket??
This summer I’m travelling with an aging relative who is starting to find walking long distances difficult, so getting a cart ride to our gate would be helpful if it’s available. I requested accessibility accommodation when booking his ticket online, but didn’t see where I could specify just what kind of assistance was needed. I suspect he will refuse if the only assistance offered is a wheelchair (he is still coming to terms with getting older so pride will likely get in his way), and I’m wondering if we have the option to only accept certain forms of assistance or if the refusal of a wheelchair will cause Westjet to cancel the accommodation request for all the flights on our booking (2 there, 2 back).
Do I call WestJet to discuss/ request the particular needs, or just deal with it at the check in counter?
