I believe that Trap was shaped by the South in general, but the strong presence of the Memphis scene in the beginning of Trap is undeniable, with artists like DJ Zirk, Project Pat, Kingpin Skinny Pimp, Three 6 Mafia, and the entire scene in general. For many, Trap originated in Atlanta, and supposedly the first Trap album was "Trap Muzik," but if that album is "Trap," then I believe there are several albums that sound more Trap than T.I.P's own "Trap Muzik." Project Pat's "Mista Don't Play" sounds more Trap, and if "Mista Don't Play" is Trap, then Trap has existed since the 90s, originating in Memphis, after all, there are several albums in Memphis that sound exactly like "Mista Don't Play."
