Is there a way to fix this?

As you can see in the images, its a line (kind of dotted) going through my screen it sometimes disappears, changes flicker frequency.

Some things i noticed:

  • Appears even in different OS (the detail that makes me think its hardware).
  • I pressed the lower part of the display frame and it created a new line for a brief moment.
  • Is less noticeable in black wallpapers.
  • Disappears and changes flicker frequency, but i dont know what factors affect it.

I did some research and it says it will slowly turn into a full line and possibly more lines.

I wanted to know if there is a way to fix this (preferably for free)?

Edit: FIXED

I asked gemini and it gave many diagnostic steps one of which was gently pressing the "bazel" (forgot the exact name, basically the frame of the laptop) which didn't do much, but on 1 certain spot it created a new line for when it was kept pressed, so combining my 2 braincells i thought of instead of pressing the "bazel" i slightly pulled it outwards, the result was the line disappearing, although it still happens but very less frequently, before it used to just stay and with this detail, its probably fixable since it still does happen i am thinking of disassembling it for 100 fix, wish me luck.

dwm but for wayland.

I basically want to choose between dwm and dwl.

dwl is same as dwm and follows the same philosophy but built for wayland.

My preferences:

  • Performance (probably not much difference)
  • Relability

I its just going to be arch with gaming on potato pc.

Let me know if you know any better lightweight WM or compositors!

Edit: I have decided on dwm for now, but not limited myself to it, i will try wayland in the future.

I use arch btw.

I just joined Arch linux and my first surprise was that arch isn't as hard as people say it is installation was really easy and took like <30 mins.

I installed arch to really just get more control over my system and i am already making it minimal as hell.

I have a working arch but its not really usable right now and i am figuring things out.

I switched directly from mint btw.

Problem with CachyOS installation.

I know the "Critique should be constructive", but i may still not be able to provide the exact error messages

When i first tried to install CachyOS using live lunix drive, it booted up and ran with no problem, and i instantly got to installing, it went to like 12% then showed an error (i know not precise), and after the error it just didn't give me an option to look at logs.

I have tired several times but one of these happens:

Installation Failed
The installation doesn't progress (only the slide changing logs)

The only error message i remember - Pacman failed (i forgot the most ones)

Most far i have made it: 18%

Probable causes:

Low ram (4GB DDRL3) - I have heard that the live CachyOS needs more ram

Manual Partitioning - I dont think it is the reason, but first time i am trying to install and partition at the same time, i usually do it manually (GParted)

Specs of my potato:

Laptop: Lenovo G50-80 (80E5)

CPU: Intel Core i3-5005U (2 Cores, 4 Threads @ 2.00 GHz max)

RAM: 4 GB DDR3 (3.74 GB usable)

Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 5500 (Integrated)

Storage: 1 TB HDD (Western Digital WD10JPCX-24UE4T0, 5400 RPM)

Also, is CachyOS recommended for this hardware?

Want to achieve maximum gaming performance on a potato, suggest an OS

[Sorry if the text below is not fulfilling/unsatisfactory, its my first post]

I want to achieve the maximum performance i can possibly on this hardware, i use linux mint, but i have space for 1 or 2 more OS, i currently only use linux mint xfce, so i was thinking about using 1 more OS for gaming and only gaming, and i will only use lutris, (no steam).

What i will be doing is downloading games from mint and using a usb or whatever and transfer it to the gaming OS, i tried CachyOS i3 with no firefox, but i keep running into errors or no progress during the installation

  • Laptop Model: Lenovo G50-80
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-5005U
  • Graphics: Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM (Shared with iGPU for VRAM)
  • Storage: 1 TB 5400 RPM HDD

Well that was the main stuff that matters.

Edit: Cut the unnecessary context
