Here are a couple graphs I made to look at trends in how new supply (drops and purchasable containers) fills opening demand.

All data was acquired through the csgocasetracker api.

The main conclusions are:

As more cases are removed from active duty/armory, a larger share of the demand is pushed into discontinued cases.
The remaining demand for active duty cases is concentrated among fewer cases, requiring each individual case to fill a larger share of the total opening demand.
