Woodworkers: I want your sawdust!

Hey woodworkers! I'm short on browns for bokashi composting at the moment and would love to grab some untreated sawdust from you (no glues) if possible. Could pick up this fall pre-leaf dropping.

I'm on the west side of town but am frequently on the north side too. Cheers!

Happy luffas growing in bokashi compost-rich soil

Zone 5! These are both longer than my elbow to the tip of my middle finger. Late summer is when things really start cooking for luffa gourds. My third season growing. AMA!

Layered bokashi compost, about 6lbs of Upcycled Bokashi, and made sure to always keep the soil covered.

First time growing softneck garlic

Grown in soil heavily amended by homemade bokashi compost and Upcycled Bokashi.

This is my third season harvesting garlic at home. First season was very "meh" and second we made some great progress.

But this season was really dialed in. Lots of learning from past mistakes and just gaining experience.

Zone 5. Always grew hardneck since 1) we love garlic scapes and 2) better for our cool climate. Unfortunately we didn't have much of a winter this last season (and currently under emergency conditions for drought).

Softneck actually stores longer (and we will braid it into a beautiful kitchen display).

Big learnings for a good (so far) garlic harvest:

  1. Heavily amended with LOTS of compost.

  2. Mulch well through the winter.

  3. Water adequately -- not too much, easy to drown and over water garlic which leads to my next tip.

  4. Excellen porosity (drainage).

We doubled our garlic this year, so this is less than 1/8th of what we planted. Can't wait to pull the rest when they're ready.
