Maybe this is old news but it was a first for me. I am a hiking merit badge counselor. Today, I received a hiking plan for a 20 mile hike that was obviously entirely AI generated. The scout did not deny it.

Now, I think the hiking plan requirement is one of the really important parts of the merit badge. Being able to look at a map, understand what you need to be looking for and know where potential issues might occur. I believe using AI completely bypasses any opportunity to learn any of this. It's defeating the whole purpose of the requirement.

However, I also know that I can't make new requirements for a merit badge. There is nothing in the requirements that says AI is prohibited. So I did accept the plan. But I also warned the scout that AI can frequently be wrong and will hallucinate information and strongly encouraged them to double, triple, and quadruple check the plan.

Is this the new normal? Can I have a no AI rule for a merit badge that I am a counselor for?

My nightscout instance has worked fine for as long as I can remember. But it stopped showing any new data after about 2 AM CDT last night. Things I've tried:

1. Checked Dexcom status, nothing there
2. Tried updating and redeploying my Nightscout instance, no change
3. Restarting my Azure app service
4. Historical data prior to 2 AM is still available
5. Added a new event which does work. So that data is able to be inserted which means my Mongo is operational. Only Dexcom data is not showing up.
6. I tried both wifi and cellular with my phone to see if it was a local network problem.

Any other ideas?

There was a recent post asking about the availability of episode 1 of 24/7 Penguins/Capitals: Road to the NHL Winter Classic. I had downloaded all 4 episodes at some point in time from somewhere (probably Usenet). I just uploaded my copy to google drive and offering it up for anyone to download. Visiting the Big Island next month. In a single day, is it possible to go from Kailua-Kona, do Volcano National Park (maybe including Kīlauea Iki Overlook and Pu‘uloa Petroglyphs?), go to the base of Maunakea for star gazing, and then back to Kailua-Kona? It seems doable to me. But would love others opinions.
