Dog refuses to walk
This has been happening for about a month. I take my dog out for a walk, we go for about 2-5 minutes, she poops, then she wants to go home. She's eager when I get back and sprints to the door when I go for her leash. She's seemingly excited and normal when we start walking but once she poops she will only allow me to go home.
A few things to note:
Her diet hasn't changed and she's about 8 years old. I was thinking about transitioning her to a senior dog diet soon but she has had a mix of blue buffalo wet food and dry food for years.
She doesn't appear to be in pain and I haven't found any cuts, swelling, broken nails, etc.
I've tried walking her right when I get home, waited until later, different parks/locations, etc. There were a couple times she let me walk her when I ran into someone we're familiar with and she was excited to see her and her dog. She also likes this off leash park but it's far away and I don't have the time to go there every day. I think I've actually gotten a good walk with her 3 times over the past 4 weeks.
She seems normal at home. Lives with my cat and myself. She's temperamentally the same when we're at home.
I'm just looking for some advice. I do plan to bring her to the vet but I'm in a bind financially right now and trying to do whatever I can in the meantime to get her the exercise and engagement she needs. Any thoughts are welcome.
