Considering a C8 Z06 coming from a 911 - coupe vs HTC, brake/steering feel, and track impressions?

Long-time 911 guy here considering making the jump to a C8 Z06. The value proposition (engine) is genuinely hard to ignore, and I’m trying to do my homework before pulling the trigger.

I track my 911 about 4-5 times a year and drive it as a fun weekend car. It’s a blast to drive. It’s a raw and small 997 with a 4.1 engine, custom suspension, 245/325 tires, aero, everything. It feels very connected, predictable, and the engine sounds great. Super proud of the job I’ve done with the car. Truly unique.

I have a few specific questions for those who were in my position but made the jump to a Z06:

I know the Z06 runs brake-by-wire and steer-by-wire, so I’m not expecting a 911. But how disconnected does it actually feel on track? Does the car still communicate enough to keep you engaged and having fun, or does it ever feel sterile despite the engine? Has anyone gotten bored with it at the track over time, or regretted the jump from a more analog sports car?

I’m leaning HTC for the street experience, but worried I’ll regret it at the track. For HTC owners who track it — do you wish you’d gone coupe for the lower weight and center of gravity? Do you even notice, or is it a non-issue?

Also curious about buffeting. I’ve heard coupe owners rarely drop the top because it’s bad at speed — is that accurate? HTC owners, any issues at highway or track speeds?

Anyone who’s made a similar jump and has continued real track time in the Z06 — honest takes appreciated.

Thanks!
