AIO? My colleagues tried to intimidate me to falsify a legal form, tried to explain it goes against my beliefs and morals.

I work in a place where there is 100% corruption from top to bottom.

We have a HR department but that’s no good.

People falsify forms all the time here but despite me being here for 16 years, I don’t really get to do much paperwork in my role. I mainly do the health and safety.

I always make sure I cross the t’s and dot the I’s. I refuse to do falsify or lie when it comes to legal forms for the councils or safety docs because it’s not worth the risk.

So last week my boss dumps on me a form to fill out for his house sale, not my remit but I dragged my heals to do this, I began and then turns out we need more forms, to give to the solicitors and the councils.

The forms ask for what work has been done on the house and I said what I thought was correct at the time. Not submitted anything and then Got my manager to sign it. I was then told we did extra work but don’t declare it and they were like we don’t need to add this other structural work because they’ll may to examine it. But this goes against building regulations. I spoke to a structural engineer and they said it should be mentioned.

A colleague comes sits next to me and my manager in calls me a jobsworh and says I’m wasting company time and basically just fill in the form. He goes off an rant towards me. The manager said is it because of your morals and I said yes, that didn’t go well.

I felt really pressured and intimidated and now looking for other works because this task does not fall into my remit, and don’t like the idea of being ridiculed because of my morals of not falsely filling out forms.

I was quite upset and left in a state thinking am I just over reacting, feeling dejected because of my stance, meanwhile the manager who doesn’t like confrontation took his side. He was getting frustrated with me because I was not accepting what he said - basically drawing on a post it note of the work they did and saying it was fine. He doesn’t know the regulations and he just interior designer and doesn’t work with regulations or buildings. I work in safety management and neither know the ins and outs.

Ultimately generally whatever people fill and sign and send is nothing to do with me and my morals and does not prevent people from doing as they please.

I feel like reporting the entire company to different authorities.

I plan to send my manager the word file so the can type and send as they please.
