New-ish hire (mental health) just looking for some input from COs
Hi all,
I have been working in CCCMS for a few months now, but am just now getting to where I’m finally being turned loose on my own to do assessments and contacts with inmates, and still with just a very limited ducat. Actually most of my time so far has been doing a ridiculous amount of LMS trainings, block training, shadowing in the office, and only occasionally shadowing other clinicians when they see inmates. So even though I’ve been here for a little bit, I’m still very much trying to learn how to do the parts of my job that don’t involve sitting at a desk. This is also my first time working in a prison.
Anyway, I really want to get off on the right foot and have a decent working relationship with the COs. I don’t want to be a pain in the ass, make anyone’s job harder, or do anything unintentionally stupid or unsafe.
Just looking for whatever general tips you’re willing to share! Or even anything you think I should know about the inmates themselves. I just want to learn!
