I've known the Direct Ignition Cassette was faulty for years but I could live with the occasional rough idle at cold temps and some misfires here and there.

But the misfires started stacking up and the engine light went continuous last week so I decided it's time.

I'm not mechanically skilled and I don't have any tools but this was the easiest fix I could actually imagine on the entire car.

Saab techs were geniuses. Not only does this system make the engine awesome, they knew the trade off was longevity so they made it easy enough for a rank amateur to replace.

Very satisfying, including to see the crack, exactly as envisioned, on the underside of the old unit.
