Do yall buy drinks inside or get some stuff from home

Hi so it’s my first time coming to glow and I’m so excited!! Just had a question - some of my friends told me that drinks are very expensive inside the festival- and I don’t want to spend a lot on drinks inside- so do yall carry shooters or stuff inside and how yall do it? Any advice would be great :)

Graduating in 6 years instead of 4 and it’s eating me alive

I came to the US to study. Changed my major twice. And now while all my friends from back home are settled into jobs and building their lives, I’m still here yet to graduate.

It’s become this insecurity I can’t talk about to anyone. Like what do I even say? I know I shouldn’t care what people think but it’s just killing me internally.

The worst part is I haven’t told my parents yet. They think everything is fine. Every day I push that conversation further and every day it gets heavier.
The know that I took an extra sem but they don’t know that I need to take 2 more semesters! I feel like a looser telling them abt this

And yet somewhere deep down I know I’ll be okay. I know I’ll do well. I’ve learned things, built things, grown in ways that four years couldn’t have given me. But that doesn’t make today feel any lighter.

Has anyone been through something like this? Graduating late, hiding something big from your parents, feeling completely behind everyone your age?

Been working on an idea for months now and just found out someone launched basically the same thing. The founders have Ivy League backgrounds and fancy credentials and honestly it’s just a little crazy to see.

I’m not scared. I know I can build and I know my idea is solid. But it’s still kind of annoying when you’ve been grinding quietly and then someone with a Harvard tag shows up in the same space.

How do you all deal with this mentally? Do you ignore them, study them, or just put your head down and keep building?

And has anyone actually had a competitor show up and it ended up being a net positive? Like did it push you to move faster or get better? Would love to hear real stories.

edit: To clarify the thing that's really messing with me: my idea is for college students. They launched at an Ivy League school. I'm launching at a public state school (UMD).

When they pitch: "We launched at Yale" - instant credibility with investors and other universities.

When I pitch: "We launched at UMD" - feels like the budget version.

I know I can execute faster because I'm literally on campus and I am the user. But does the Ivy brand give them an unfair advantage I can't overcome? Or is this something I'm overthinking?

Anyone dealt with a competitor who had better credentials/brand positioning and still won?

I'm applying to YC as a solo founder and I'm really strong at storytelling and video editing. I feel like I could make a compelling 1-minute story-driven video instead of the typical "hi, I'm [name], here's my background" format.

Has anyone done something more creative with their founder video? Or does YC prefer the straightforward approach?

I'm thinking something that shows my journey and why I'm building what I'm building through visuals and narrative rather than just me talking to camera. Would this hurt my chances or could it actually help me stand out?

Any advice from people who've gone through the process?
