something i have noticed while watching the universal century is,
many of char's adversaries mirror him in one way or another
garma- living the life of royalty that char (or casval rem deikun) was meant to inherit.
gihren, kycillia, and degwin- they all mirror the treachery that char embodies later in his life, biting the hand that fed them and all.
scirocco- was manipulative of reccoa in a similar manner as to how char acted towards quess paraya, which ended in both reccoa and quess being martyrs to a cause that they did not believe in.
haman karn- indoctrinates and uses mineva zabi to further her own agenda similar to how char acts towards quess, iirc he himself admits to turning quess into a machine of sorts, similar to how haman turned mineva into a puppet.
reccoa- reccoa and char were both people that wanted somebody to depend upon, a guiding light of sorts.. which is why their relationship didn't work out and they both ended up being on different factions in the gryps conflict.
to me this is indicative of char's self-hatred, so many of the people that he hates are just mirrors of himself,
casval is very beloved to me because ever since he was a young child he was flung into a war he did not wish to participate in (who does?), dodged assassinations multiple times, lost many who were close to him,
and the result of this pandemonium of a life is a self-loathing manchild who wants nothing more than someone to reassure him (lalah sune) or someone he can entrust his own responsibilities to (kamille bidan).
when he loses both of these figures, he turns into this broken man who now not only reverts to his old ways, but also becomes a symbol of the very war he had fought against, a hypocrite essentially.
i really believe that the plan to drop axis onto earth to force the earthnoids to migrate to space had the ulterior motive of him *wanting amuro to connect with him one last time*, hence the line "amuro, i'm doing something extremely wicked. if you're nearby, feel my presence."
amuro was the last person who could understand him, the only person he could *depend upon*,
and during the events of the axis shock, char WAS understood by amuro (causing both of them to become newtype-ghosts),
in a way, while char was unsuccessful in the sense that his axis plan was averted and his nihilistic belief was proved wrong via the collective will of humanity, his need to be understood was fulfilled by amuro.
making this whole fucked up ordeal a pyrrhic victory kinda thing for him?
this is such a crackpot post lol, i could go off at length regarding gundam for hours and it would still not satiate my need to talk about how good it is.
