Work in progress portable hobby station
Hi, I’m here to share my project, which is still very much a work in progress. The goal is to create an easily portable table that meets all my hobby needs.
I live in an apartment where I can’t have a dedicated hobby space, so I’d like something that takes just a minute to set up and clean up, where I won’t have to start from scratch every time, and where I can leave things a bit messy between hobby sessions.
The table itself will have its own LED lights (two flip-up side lights and one sliding light on top) and ventilation (provided by two 120×38 mm 18.5 W fans) to remove any unpleasant odors from airbrush, soldering or nail polish when my girlfriend does her nails (they aren’t powerful enough to serve as a full-fledged paint booth to catch overspray, but i hope for cleaning the air from smels sould be ok). The exhaust itself will be routed through a magnetically attached exhaust hose so I can vent it directly out of the apartment.
The work surface is A3-sized, and there are storage spaces around it for Gridfinity units, which I’d like to use to organize my supplies (a paint stand, a water container, an airbrush holder, various containers for miscellaneous items, etc.) + a drawer for my most frequently used items, so they’re as close at hand as possible (I’ll probably just fill it with paints anyway)
There are also legs so you can place it on a coffee table or couch and have it bit higher.
The overall closed dimensions are approx. 796 x 460 x 190 mm, and the open workspace is approx. 670 x 400 x 390 mm. The legs add a height of approx. 220 mm.
What isn’t visible in the model is a retractable fabric “wall” and "cealing" like the one on the Prusa XL printer, as well as buttons to control the lights and ventilation.
Do you have any advice for me on what to watch out for, what you would change or adjust, and similar things? I’m looking for constructive criticism before I start the gradual printing and assembly.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
