Graduating Maritime School in a year. Job Market?
I’m about to graduate in a year with a bachelor of science in power engineering technology. I’ve completed two internships and a pulp and paper mill in the powerhouse. Currently my plan is to graduate and go into field service work on gas/steam turbines. My big hang up is obviously the shift work. I’m young and I want to chase the money but I also want to hear about some other opportunities for power engineers. Are all of my options long crazy hours and demanding schedules, or are there companies out there that hire power engineers for jobs with a more orthodox schedule. I know what I went to school for but what other options do I have besides a boiler operator or field service tech? Also I’m in the states. TIA
