City broke the law in rejecting petition to undo Koch's raise
This case was simple. The city rejected signatures, claiming illegibility even where signers legible printed their names. That's illegal. The injustice kept the question off the November ballot. Luckily, voters installed a council that will undo the raise anyway. Though it came late, the court order vindicates everyone who signed, as well as those who supported the legal battle once it became clear what the city did. Not a great look for city hall. It has been caught twice now violating fundamental rights of its citizens.
