Anybody’s dashcam recorded car crash(basically sideswiped) at S Artery & Sea St tonight around 9 pm?
Yeah, it’s literally the police headquarter, I knew, but the officer on scene for construction safety purpose and later officer responded didn’t make a judgement.
I would appreciate it if your dash cam recorded it, plz DM me. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated too!
Has anyone paddleboarded at Wollaston beach? I’m thinking of getting one but I’m not certain it won’t be too choppy to navigate
I had a really uncomfortable experience at a local restaurant. The place was oddly empty, the food was mediocre for the prices, and honestly I would’ve just moved on and simply not gone back as service was decent. But after I left, the tip amount on my credit card was changed from what I wrote on the receipt.
I tried calling multiple times and the number asks you to leave a message but then doesn’t allow you to, and when I went back in person no one was able to help resolve it. I’m not someone who normally posts negative reviews, but the whole experience felt strange. Just wanted others to be aware and double check their charges.
I honestly never check my charges and the only reason I even caught this tip change was because my credit card flagged it and reached out to see if I had left over a %50 tip.
Looking for a good place to get a mens haircut in Quincy Center.
Searched and found Z Barbershop on 1050 Hancock Street which is convenient for me.
And i think they're pretty new there.
Has anyone gone to them and care to review or suggest other places in Quincy Center?
Looking for nothing crazy, usual fade and trim the top down.
So I lucked out today and got a parking spot in the street very close to where I had an appointment. When I returned to my car, someone had double parked blocking my exit from my spot. I’m very familiar with the area and this is not a double parking street by any means. We see it in certain parts of the city but not in the suburbs. So I wait assuming the person will be out momentarily. However, after at least 5 minutes I started to become annoyed. I decided to call the local police given at this point I didn’t know how long I would be stuck there. After another few minutes a young adult male approached the car carrying a take out bag. Said nothing. I put down my window and said, “You have inconvenienced everyone but yourself”. This is the norm today. People miss a turn, they don’t keep going until they can take the next turn off, the pull a u-turn across a double yellow and hold up 4 lanes of traffic because of their mistake. They are so quick to inconvenience others but never themselves.
For those who have lived here through the summers, how much more has running an AC in the summer cost you in electricity? If you can include your apartment/house size, that would be great!
I'm trying to budget/plan. I'm mainly trying to cool a one bedroom over the summer, but likely need the AC running ~18 hours a day.
My partner saw a story on WBZ this morning, about someone stabbed in Quincy Center on Temple St. They showed video. The only thing that is showing up online is this partial headline on 25. Anyone know what’s up?
Anyone live in the Amelia Apartment building in Quincy Center? I live on the 10th floor, and am having extreme AC problems. Overnight temperatures reach 80 degrees with the AC on…. Wondering if anyone else is having these issues? Or how you fixed it?
Management told us to buy “curtains” ……
Only using it for school (quincy college) and maybe max 3 miles for work, Is a good idea? I will not ride like a hooligan

On May 6th, the Quincy School Committee met on the anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act, and once again denied Asian American community members basic respect and recognition.
During this meeting, many residents spoke at open forum in support of the recognition of Lunar New Year (LNY) as an official holiday in Quincy Public Schools (QPS). Despite the fact that nearly 40% of the QPS population is Asian American and community members have made emotional and impassioned pleas for recognition, this effort is still facing pushback from School Committee members, who are using a technicality to try and get their way on this issue.
Make no mistake: This is racism and cultural intolerance. Point blank.
Three members in particular, Kathy Hubley, Tina Cahill, and Paul Bregoli have been putting up resistance on this issue. While acting meek publicly, reliable sources have informed me that Kathy Hubley is allegedly the most vocal opponent to this effort. She has told Mayor Koch that she will do anything it takes to stop LNY from being recognized and that she has consulted with lawyers to put legal roadblocks in front of any vote on this issue. To put it bluntly: Kathy Hubley’s sentiment has allegedly been that this will pass over her dead body. What does that tell you about how much respect she has for our Asian neighbors? We saw Hubley’s intolerance clear as day at the May 6th meeting, when she tried to limit the time of someone utilizing a translator at open forum, directly contradicting QPS’s own Language Access Plan.
For over four years, Quincy families, students, educators, and residents have advocated for the recognition of the LNY. Yet today, nearly 40% of the QPS community is still being told to choose between school and their culture.
Simultaneously, we are seeing increasing rhetoric dividing Quincy into two groups: those who were “born and raised” in the city and those who were not, with the second group relegated as second class citizens. School Committee member Tina Cahill has herself participated in this.
This new dogwhistle is transparent as glass. Other comments on social media make it clear who the “born and raised” crowd views as outsiders:
All of this begs the question: Who truly counts in Quincy?
Despite members like Tina Cahill shouting from the rooftops that she represents “all of Quincy,” there seems to be a clear double standard in how people are treated in this city based on their cultural background. When QPS has Good Friday listed as an official holiday (despite it not being a recognized holiday in Massachusetts), but School Committee members are fighting tooth and nail to reject LNY, this dichotomy of intolerance is painfully clear.
Kathy Hubley, Tina Cahill, Paul Bregoli: You should feel ashamed of yourselves. And the voters will respond in kind at the ballot box.
Call to Action
The School Committee will meet again on May 20th at 6:30 pm (34 Coddington St), where LNY will once again be up for a vote. Please show up in solidarity and consider speaking during open forum.
If you are a parent, teacher, and/or taxpayer in Quincy, please also write to the School Committee (emails below) by TOMORROW May 19th at 4pm to voice your support. Please include your name, address, and why Lunar New Year is important to you and/or the Quincy Asian community. Letters sent to the open forum email address will be published on the QPS website. The more letters in support, the better.

Hey everyone, Waku Waku Ramen just launched a Miso Clam Chowder Ramen.
The idea was to make something that felt like New England comfort food but still ate like ramen.
I know "clam chowder ramen" might sound weird, crazy, cursed or all the above, so I wanted to ask honestly if anyone wants to give it a chance and what would make it better?
Not trying to spam, just genuinely curious what the people think.
My latest newsletter includes community updates and a rundown of recent council committee meetings: https://maggieforquincy.substack.com/p/here-comes-the-sun. Thanks for reading!
Seven out of 9 City Councilors deferred or donated their raises. Our City Councilors keep their promises.
Hi!
Wow! It is going to be a hot week! Is summer really coming?
Our City Council continues to work hard, long hours to keep the promises they made during their campaigns. So yes-the agenda is again packed and the meeting may be long. (It is astonishing that some are complaining about the length of the meetings. –Huh? They are working for us; they are required to meet in public as a group.) Some people (some not even from Quincy) remain surprised that we now have a city council that actually puts in time and effort to ensure that our city government is working in our best interests. Sometimes the commentary from these haters is a bit crazy. So, please come, listen and make up your own minds. If you can’t—QATV streams the meeting live on Comcast Channel 9.
The May 18^(th) City Council meeting will be at City Hall on the 2nd floor.
6:30 PM — Public Hearing. 2026-067-068-Utility Grants of Location-Mass. Elec/Verizon-46-50 Street. Pole removal and installation.
6:35 PM—Ordinance Committee Meeting. The full agenda here: https://www.quincyma.gov/government/elected_officials/city_council/council_agendas___minutes/ordinance_committee.php#docaccess-6df0c02d63054f79e933698d84ce868b
2026-016-Order to have City Solicitor Answer Questions Regarding Raise Deferments. This is about unanswered questions regarding deferring the raises in October 2025. The previous City Council said they deferred the raises, but never said how. Another question asks whether the City Council can defer all City Councilors’ raises using whatever process was used in ’25. Note that the 2 re-elected City Councilors from the previous council neither deferred nor did they donate their raises. They made no promises to do so during their campaigns.
2026-029-031. Repeals of Council’s Raise (2024-056), Repeal of Mayor’s Raise (2024-055), Repeal of Annual Raises for Elected Officials (2025-090). The repeal of these 3 ordinances provides a clean slate. They bring back salaries to the pre-2024 levels, as of January 2027. By law, they cannot be repealed any sooner. No one ever said that raises were not deserved, but the amount proposed was absurd. WeVoters believes that the next step is providing a process for making sure that a 79% increase will never sneak by again.
7:30 PM — City Council Meeting.
Residents Open Forum / Public Comment. You might want to say a few words about what kind of process you would like to see for our elected officials’ raises. Then there is the most important topic you might want to think about. That topic is the-purchase of ENC in light of $1.8 billion of debt and our credit rating being reduced-AGAIN. A reduced credit rating means higher interest rates. We have a sea wall to be replaced and schools that need critical repairs—what takes precedence?
Many thanks to our City Council for giving us a voice in what are the priorities.
Legal Update-Eastern Nazarene College. The Mayor and City Solcitor have provided no information about this agenda item---sooo, no idea what this will be about. Perhaps an explanation of the Letter of Intent?
2026-084-Order-Amending Council Rules Twenty Four Council Meeting & Twenty-Five special Meetings -Notice. This is a straight forward revision largely allowing for electronic delivery of notices.
2026-085-Order Requesting the Administration to Provide a two-Fiscal Year Capital Bonding Plan and Financial Projections for Major Projects. Planning is a fundamental step to managing money—doesn’t matter if it is a family of 4 or a city of 100,000. It does become more important when we are talking about $1.8 billion in debt, a lowered credit rating, and a request for $22.5 million to buy a piece of property that would be nice—but is it essential? Ensuring a low-density development for ENC can be handled through zoning ordinances.
Plus, we have temporary interest only loans (BANs) that will need to be funded by long-term bonds. Bonds that will likely come at higher interest rates, due to lowered credit ratings.
What money has been spent is gone---but planning for the future, developing a full picture of , at least, our major expenses is crucial to managing our money responsibly. Would you be buying a Porsche when you are not sure you can make your mortgage payment?

More cheftestants should do this.
Construction crew working all day in my north Quincy neighborhood. Right now it's 12:05 am. Aren't there laws concerning night time road work? I've even seen them start road work on Sundays after 9pm.
I'm moving from NQ to Adams shore area and I was wondering what the easiest commute would be getting to the seaport in Boston. I'm thinking about parking at NQ everyday and taking the train from there. Especially since parking at NQ is cheaper than Quincy Adams. Does anyone else have any hacks for a better commute so is this the best option?
Guess there was a concert yesterday and all these plastic flower petals were scattered about and left on the grass. My friends and I picked them up and threw them in the trash that is literally around the corner.
In big 2026 I don't understand why were are using plastic like this at all, like confetti. Real rose petals would have been fine. But if you're going to use plastic, CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF! This has been a PSA. Thank you.
