Rallying/Practicing Tennis Partner?

Started playing tennis about a month or two ago and it’s been super fun. I’m around a 2.5 level and looking for people in the Quincy area who’d be down to rally/practice and get better.

I usually play with my girlfriend, but she’s been super busy with work lately, so I’m looking for some other people to hit with. Nothing too serious , just looking to get some reps in and improve. I can bring plenty of balls too.

Let me know if anyone’s interested!

Slinger tennis ball machine for $400 — good deal for a beginner?

I’ve only been playing tennis for about a month. I have a couple friends I hit with 1–2x a week, but I’d like a ball machine so I can practice more consistently on my own.

Found a Slinger on Facebook Marketplace for $400 with the oscillator. Seller says he bought it a couple years ago and only used it a few times.

Worth it at $400? My only hesitation is being in Boston, so outdoor tennis season is pretty limited.

Pickleball singles is dominated by ex tennis players, can you realistically reach 5.0+ in it without a tennis/racquet-sport background?

Pickleball singles is basically mini tennis, so it makes sense that former tennis players have a huge advantage. But at almost every 5.0+ singles tournament I've seen, it seems like the majority of players have tennis backgrounds, often collegiate or very high-level.

How realistic is it for someone with zero racquet-sport background to eventually reach 5.0+ singles?

At that level, you're competing against people with years of footwork, groundstrokes, court positioning, etc. It feels like you're trying to overcome a massive head start.

Has anyone actually seen someone start from scratch and reach that level in singles? Not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous of the tennis guys 😂

Boston pickleball players, looking for a consistent drilling/playing partner

26M, have been playing for a couple months, around the 3.0ish, I attend 2-3 open plays a week but I've noticed recently that improvement has stagnated and I want to start drilling/practising more. Have a bunch of extra balls I could bring, usually play in the Dorchester/Quincy area, let me know if interested.
