23 G70 3.3T RWD, 46k miles, under warranty, no mods.

Haven't done anything to it other than oil changes so far. This issue first happened about 3 months ago, dealership had no idea and couldn't reproduce and the ECU had no logs I guess so they sent me on my way.

It's happened again about 5 times in the last 3 weeks, so it's getting worse, I have it scheduled to go in again, but wanted to get your guys take on what it could be bc my Gen dealership is clueless on just about everything I've had to bring the car in for in the past.

PROBLEM: right after a cold start, under load the car will suddenly lose 99% power within 1 mile of starting out, the check engine light comes on, and the engine starts rumbling really roughly. I pull over and the car sounds like it's about to die, and I turn off the engine, leave it for a few seconds, then turn it back on and it's perfectly fine again, no check engine light, purring at perfect health again. One of the times it happened I *think* I heard a little pop right before it lost power. It has only happened so far when the car is still cold, and when I need to put about 20% power down to get up to speed on a 50 mph road after a cold start. I always wait until the engine is up to temp to give it any real power.

What do you guys think? Could it be spark plugs? Something.... worse?

I'm scheduled in a couple weeks to bring it to the dealership but I really don't like them and if it's something I can fix myself I would prefer to.

🔔 UPDATE: most likely the high pressure fuel pump. Got the OBD sensor hooked up, there are a mix of active and archived codes, got screenshots of it all:

  • P0301-306 — cylinder misfires
  • P05CC — fuel-system related code
  • P000A — Intake camshaft position A, Bank 1, slow response

Here's the OBD tester I purchased: https://a.co/d/0eVeH8EK And I used it w the Car Scanner app (purchased Pro for $5)
