Vinted claim that clothes require a padded bag/envelope - this is insanity, right?

Vinted claim that clothes require a padded bag/envelope - this is insanity, right?

So I'm new to Vinted and I've had my first ever issue which is that an item has been damaged in transit. It was a brand new t-shirt I sold for £8 - naturally I folded and wrapped it tightly in a standard grey mailing bag like everyone else on the planet. But the buyer selected evri and somehow they've managed to damage the package so much that it's ripped through the bag, both sides of the shirt, and through the back of the bag too.

It took two weeks for Vinted support to look into the situation and I've just checked their packaging guidelines and I'm fairly confident they're going to say my mailing bag isn't sufficiently padded... but, surely this is ridiculous. No?

I've never once in my life from any retailer/seller/platform received a piece of clothing in anything other than a standard mailing bag. Why are Vinted's standards higher than this.

Bundle is overweight for shipping with Royal Mail, is that a problem?

I'm new to selling on Vinted and I've only ever sold single or 2 item bundles which have been under the weight limits. However someone has just bought a 6 item bundle which weighs up at around 1.8kg before any packaging, so probably over 2kg.

All the items were listed as medium packages and the buyer chose Royal Mail, the email & app state that max weight is 1kg.

What am I supposed to do here? Just package it up and send it anyway? I don't want the buyer to have to pay extra upon collection or anything like that, but equally this feels like a mistake on Vinteds part so idk.
