Printable Miniatures

A little while back I shared an idea of using cheap blocks to get my friends into wargaming without needing them to invest time and money into building an army, which has helped, but I decided to take things a step further.

Being a draftsman I have been designing some top down views of generic tricorne and shako wearing soldiers in CAD during my lunch breaks. Once cut out and glued to some MDF bases for a little heft they feel and look pretty decent.

I'm not very artistically inclined though, so I was wondering what you all thought and if you had any suggestions for improving them? I might post them for download one day when I'm satisfied with them. I know others already exist, but I like my little projects.

Wargaming with Blocks

I have been tinkering with my own set of epic scale rules for a while now to use with 12mm blocks. My goal is to get new players who may be daunted, mainly my friends, to the table fast without anyone needing to buy, assemble, and paint miniatures first.

I've been going back and forth recently on the best way to represent different unit types in different formations. I haven't settled a block count yet, so I'm open to changing them, but I wanted some more opinions from other wargamers to see how best you would go about arranging the blocks for each unit?

Edit 1: As a note, units will have small identifier cards placed to the rear of them to determine facing and so block count and formation won't be the only way to tell what unit is what.

Edit 2: After listening to everyone, I decided to test out using a sharpie to add some symbols: https://imgur.com/a/4LvAhg1
