How can the Gemeente be so deaf, literally and figuratively? (Another Luilak post)
I need to vent after reading the Gemeente's official position on Luilak https://www.delft.nl/luilak-leeft-delft-beeft.
Since when is a motorcycle parade an 'old tradition'? Motorcycles have been in the Netherlands for a century max., yet there is no record of them being part of Luilak until just a few years ago. It's either a tradition -> no motorcycles, or it is a new thing -> not a tradition, you can't have both.
And then, they state that it will last 'a couple of minutes'. Seriously? My house was literally shaking for at least an hour last year, and the noise and smell persisted for hours after that.
I can't decide what is more unacceptable: failing to stop the parade, ignoring the complaints of affected residents, or officially stating that they refuse to act. All while shifting the burden onto the people affected to protect themselves, rather than fulfilling their own duty to maintain public order.
It is incredible that we need to ask the Gemeente to please stop a motorcycle parade on a Saturday at 4:00 in the morning, but there we are https://luilakdelft.petities.nl
