Thoughts on CAD options
My partner and I are in the process of designing an engagement ring based on a vintage ring we love (photo included). Instead of a round diamond, we are using a 2.59ct elongated OMC. The original ring features a simple crown basket, but I worry about it being secure enough without a gallery rail. Is that a valid concern?
We’ve also played around with adding a faux bezel/visible gallery rail with a detailed basket, but I’m starting to worry that it might be gilding the lily and will take away from the overall style of the ring. Another thing to add is I want the stone to be relatively low set to minimize it catching on things. What I really love about the original ring is how the filigree details remind me of a knight’s armor or shield, and give it a hint of fantasy while still being very classic and not costumey.
Even though I’ve never posted here, this community has been a huge help during this process, and I’d love some feedback on the CAD options we have so far!
