Volume - controlling it

I’m very.much a beginner. I guess I’ve been learning about —10 months. I can play the right notes, at roughly the right time. What I really struggle with is the dynamics. predominantly controlling the volume. when I try and go quiet I just lose everything too easily, when i try and go louder I all too easily go up in pitch too.

Any tips/exercises that might help?

Got my first euphonium

Well my friend has lent me his old euphonium to have a play. it’s a Lafleur. I thinks it’s a 50’s or 60’s model. I’ve been playing trumpet for about 6 or 7 months so very much a brass learner.

Is it best to practise in a similar way, first long tones, what call lip slurs seem really odd at the minute but guess it must be a similar idea to trumpet. I thought when I could do both of those I’d try scales.

Can I just use my trumpet music from - treble clef.

Can anyone recommend good learning resource? A YouTube channel or method book?

Madone. For Ultra Distance

Anyone got experience of using the latest Madone for ultra distance riding, I know people would recommend an endurance bike, but I just never warm to them. I really like the look of the Madone. it doesn’t look extreme racy and the design around the saddle looks like it might be comfortable. I wouldn’t want more than 32mm tyres, I like to ride 200km rides a couple of times a month and 300, 400 and 600’s occasionally. i just wondered whether had experience of sitting on it for 12, 18 hours at a time.

Following my last post. I know my articulation is poor. Really poor. I can play long notes, slurred scales but when I introduce the tongue I think I’m just so rough. Sometimes I think I hit my lips and then blow air. My teacher says I ’stop’ notes with my tongue. I’ll be talking about it more in next lesson. in the mean time. could anyone recommend any exercises/drills/thoughts that could help with articulation.
