Astonja the Tyrant of Tiamat
Let me tell you. This isn't where she was meant to go.
I had spent some time in prison. During which time I found myself on a unit, got TTRPGs unbanned in my prison, and slowly a group of people started using TTRPGs to cope, find a healthy hobby, and escape from the full fledged nightmare that was that place.
During a slow period there was only one other Dungeon Master. We were playing Pathfinder 1e/DnD 3.5. I had decided for his game to play a Kobold Cavalier to prove that even with a -4 to strength, you could rock and roll in melee damage. Astonja the Mighty was a champion of Aspu riding a Snapping Turtle.
My party was a mixed bag. It was one of your most generic, bad choice player groups around. A bunch of chaotic dumb. The DM, was a selfish prick who didn't like good aligned characters in his game, and saw the world as a mostly evil aligned thing (real world). Greed is King kind of shit.
He put us in a position where a Deck of Many Things was in front of the party, and my idiot team mates drew cards until they were all killed off. Of course, these were Astonja's friends. She couldn't let them die.
So I looked at the DM.
Explained that Astonja is going to pray for help to draw the Wish card. To save her party.
He looked at me and said, 'The Deck will answer. You will draw the card under one circumstance. You draw three cards total, and all other positive cards are removed from the Deck.'
Astonja, poor noble Astonja, agreed.
While I don't recall one of the cards, the one that mattered was an Alignment Shift card. She went from Lawful Good to Chaotic Evil.
The DM couldn't be happier. Now he could have his 'normal game' at last.
---of course next time we were travelling he decided to describe fancy fae creatures on the side of the road and I decided to attack because fuck those pretty creatures. I play Chaotic as impulsive decision making, usually less crazy. So he shifted me to Lawful Evil.
Which he soon found that his hooks were not working as planned. He still tried to hook us with heroic stuff, only to find we wouldn't and would just end up subjugating people. I HATE playing evil, and I certainly made sure that DM understood what EVIL was.
Astonja the Tyrant of Tiamat, became an Inquisitor, rewriting her Cavalier levels. Astonja took levels in the Talon of Tiamat. By the end she became Empress of an army of Ice and Fire giants and was setting her sights on being Empress of his world.
To this day, I hated this version of her, but I find it fascinating to be playing the curse out. I often feel like actual Astonja is trapped inside watching herself be cruel. The tears/running mascara being the remnants of Astonja the Mighty fighting to break free.
The actual picture, is her character sheet. I like hand making character sheets and drawing on the equipment the characters acquire along the way.
Edit: The stats only look crazy because he regularly rewarded in crazy ways. He was an ok DM. But this was game breaking.
