My partner and I are getting married in Krabi (Dec 1st) and are planning to do a pop up pre-wedding event / joint bachelor[ette] moment at the Full Moon party (Nov 24th) and looking to get some recommendations. When I went in my 20s, I stayed in Haad Rin but the beach gets really trashed and now that we're a group in our 30s, I think we may prefer to be somewhere a bit more lux/quiet and just have to pay for transportation to/from the party zone. A lot of the advice out there is geared towards backpackers traveling on the cheap, but I'm looking for more mid range to upscale accommodations. I'm very open to paying for convenience and comfort (it is our wedding trip after all!)
We'd be in town from Nov 24th (arriving in AM; day of FMP), and leaving the 27th.
Would staying on Koh Samui and commuting over for the FMP be a good idea? I've heard mixed things about this. Is it safe to commute in the dark? Is there a chance we get stuck at the party until daylight?
If we stayed in Koh Samui, are there reliable private boats that we could book to leave whenever we wanted? Or what about the group boats if we booked the "VIP" option?
If Koh Phangan if the smarter option, what areas besides Haad Rin might offer a little bit more luxury and less of a backpacker vibe but still be close enough to the FMP (and have access to restaurants, bars, etc.?)
Any suggestions on specific hotels to look into that might offer a fun, upscale vibe for folks in their 30s who are celebrating upcoming nuptials?
What are the best transportation options to get to the FMP from elsewhere on Koh Phangan island? Can we rent bikes or a van or something? Are there any options that are walkable?
