Airstream Tire Pressure Debate

I’ve spent way too much time researching what tire pressure to use for my 2022 Globetrotter with four Goodyear Endurance tires.

Airstream recommends 80 psi.

Goodyear, on the other hand, recommends weighing our Airstreams and adjusting pressure that way.

I’m going the Goodyear route and inflating to 70-75 cold.

Anyone else take their rig to a CAT scale and inflate using Goodyear’s tire inflation chart?

What actually stops you from breaking down vs. what’s just nice to have (Airstream spare parts)

An Airstream community member asked for tips on what spare parts to carry in our Airstreams. I offered a few must haves and so did many others. If searched various forums and groups for more ideas and sorted them by what actually strands people vs. what’s just a hassle.

Sail switch was the one that caught me off guard, small $15 part, but it fails often enough and isn’t always stocked locally, so a dead furnace mid-trip is a real thing people deal with. Fuses, water pump, and hitch pins round out the “would actually end your trip” tier.

I created an Airstream spare parts for myself and others, if curious.

This Illinois Dude Said I Was the Only Louisiana State Parks Fan.

I shared my top fan badge on Facebook. I love taking my Airstream to our state parks. Lots of likes except one from a guy in Illinois.

Help me prove this guy wrong.

How many of you also love Louisiana State Parks and why?

AIRSTREAM Quality Rumors

Many have suggested Airstreams built during the COVID era (2020-2022) are lower quality.

I tried very hard to find data to support the rumor without luck. The quality claims seem anecdotal.

What I did find was NHTSA recall data PARTIALLY dispels the quality rumors. I also believe that workmanship or cosmetic issues are generally addressed by owners during the warranty period.

What’s your take?

NOTE: Also shared on Airstream forums.

FYI - Toga Parties, Flamingos, and Airstreams?

I’ve never been doing important research on Airstreams and have very loosely connected toga parties and pink flamingos to Airstream owners in this :60-second FYI video.

My childhood delinquent anxiety kicked in, so I tested 13 spare key hiding spots on my Airstream.

If growing up as a self-reliant (and frankly, somewhat delinquent) kid taught me anything, it’s that you always need a backup plan for when you're locked out.

Naturally, my brain translates that old anxiety into two scenarios as middle-aged adult: getting locked out of my Airstream in the backcountry, or finally ending up in prison.

I focused on the Airstream first.

I went ahead and tested 13 spare key spots on my actual rig, ranking them from "the first place a thief looks" to "actually genius." The absolute best spot uses something people actively avoid touching.

Sure, I'm giving away secrets to Airstream thieves, but my take is that the criminals aren't spending their time watching old guys making YouTube videos about Airstreams.

Take a look and let me know if I missed any spots: https://youtube.com/shorts/mWKnk1OqXuc?si=FrSvna1DupZSnTOH

I thought I was the only one who didn’t know this Airstream window shade hack!

I recently shared a quick Airstream hack on Facebook, and it turned out many Airstream owners who responded had no idea you could do this.

If you want a little extra daylight but want to keep some privacy, you can actually use the window levers to prop the shades open halfway.

Let me know if you're team "Obviously" or team "Mind Blown."

I’ve been Airstreaming for six years and just discovered this hack.

Airstream Fresh Water Tank Sanitizing How To

Sharing lessons learned while showing how to sanitize an Airstream fresh water tank:

  1. Turn off the tankless water heater
  2. Dilute the bleach and add it after you've pumped a few gallons of water into the tank
  3. Use a funnel
  4. Close the fresh water tank drain valve
  5. Don’t forget to turn off the water pump
  6. Flush the tanks as soon as done

Hope this helps others with this painless DIY project!

Note: There's mixed feedback on whether to bypass the tankless water heater or not. I opted to not worry about it, but made sure to flush the tankless water heater when I was done.

The RAM Charger as Alternative to 3/4 Ton for Larger Airstreams?

I’m not a truck guy. I own a 2024 RAM 2500. While it’s a beast and gives me confidence, I would prefer a Tacoma-sized truck if it could tow my 27’ Globetrotter.

However, the 1500 RAM charger hybrid seems like a strong option for those of us that didn’t want a 3/4 ton.

It’s not available yet but seems to have the payload, frame strength, tongue weight capacity, and towing capacity for 27/28’ or smaller Airstreams. It might work with a 30’, but I don’t know the specs. Plus, because I live in an area prone to power outages, it looks like it could replace my gas generator or the need for portable generators when boon docking.

Anyone familiar with this truck have insights or experience-based opinions?

My new favorite Airstream campground near Dallas

I’ve glamped twice now at The Range Vintage Trailer Resort near Dallas. It’s more expensive than most parks, but man what a treat.

I ran all the Google reviews through the Airstream Fit Score algorithm and it landed at a 4.8/5 stars.

Hope the video helps anyone curious about this campground.
