How do you actually find good food places in London?
Genuine question because I find this annoying. Whenever | want to try somewhere new, I end up doing the same thing going onto Google Maps shows me the same chains and sponsored spots and TikTok is full of viral spots with long queues.
A few things I've noticed:
• Street food stalls and market traders are basically invisible online — they're not on Google properly
• No app lets me filter by vibe properly (date night vs casual lunch vs solo dinner)
• Reviews from random strangers feel less useful than what my friends would actually say
• "Top rated" lists are always the same handful of places everyone already knows So I'm wondering how are you guys finding new places? Word of mouth? Specific apps I'm missing? Reddit? Instagram? Just walking around and trying things? Genuinely interested in what's working.
Some of these spots feel like they only exist if you know someone who knows.
