What should I focus on to get into an MD/PhD Program? Would I be a good fit?

TLDR: I am interested in pursuing an MD/PhD and am seeking some advice for what I should focus on based on the experience I already have

I have just completed my second year in a biochemistry program in an Ontario university. I have recently discovered the MD/PhD program and am very interested in applying, but am unsure of the nitty-gritty requirements because regular MDs are talked about more. I don't have a crazy amount of research experience, however the experience I do have so far has been extremely positive, and has ignited a very deep curiosity for higher-level learning, and it would be a shame to stop after my undergrad. I also feel very strongly about pursuing medicine, and believe that it would be amazing to combine knowledge from the MD and PhD to make medical and scientific advancements.

Here is my 'resume' so far:

GPA/MCAT: Work in progress. GPA is decent. I have improved but am looking to improve even more. MCAT is a work in progress, and I am intending to take it sometime in the next year.

Research experience: A semester of doing volunteer work for an Algae collection lab, a semester of volunteering for an analytical chemistry lab, a semester-long project course (where I had my own project that I was responsible for completing, writing about, and presenting to 2 committee members. Essentially a mini thesis.)

Volunteering: Crisis line volunteer responder, president of the biological society at my school, treasurer of a women in STEM club at my school

Pending/future goals: Hospital volunteer application has been submitted, peer mentor application has been submitted, currently looking for a new lab to get more experience/potentially pick up another project for my 3rd year, am on-track for getting my thesis in fourth year (The professor supervising my initial project is willing to take me on).

Am I missing anything so far? What opportunities should I look for? How have other undergrads gotten their research published? Please share any advice or information you may have about the admission process and program! I would love to know more than what is written on the admission sites.

I didn't defer any midterms or the final, submitted everything on time, but the exam was on the 22nd. Is it showing up as NR for anyone else? Its making me lowk nervous this hasn't happened to me before
