Attending in laws parties without significant other?
My husband’s cousin is having a college graduation party which we RSVPed to. My husband can no longer make it as he is going off to a bachelor party for a good friend that weekend. His aunt/cousin live a little over an hour from us.
Yesterday my husband was on the phone with his mom and told her he can no longer go to the party and she
responded oh too bad but your wife can still go right? My husband unfortunately responded yeah maybe. My MIL always puts on the guilt with family events.
My husband is not super close with his family, immediate or extended, so by default that’s how it is for me too. They’re not awful to be around by any means but I’d really rather not travel over two hours round trip to go and feel a little uncomfortable without my husband there.
Thoughts? How bad is it to just send a card with some money and not go?
