Subaru dealer says car is actually on their partner lot-flag?
We are looking to buy a car and wanted to see a used Subaru, using the Costco car program. Reached out to a dealer on Friday who said we could schedule an appointment to come see the car. Awesome. Made an appointment for today.
This morning (appointment not until 5 this evening) we reached out again to confirm this car was part of the Costco program. We are now being told the car isn't on the Subaru lot, but on their sister dealerships lot next door. Our person can't confirm price or status but can get the car over for us to look at, and of course, he also has comparable cars on the lot if we want to see them instead.
This seems like a flag to me- why were we not told that until today, and why was our inquiry routed to the 'wrong' lot? I am trying not to be overly pessimistic about how much buying a car is going to suck, and to be fair the comps he mentioned are slightly lower in price (but they are higher in mileage!). It just seems like the old bait and switch I have read about on car buying forums.
I just want to buy a damn car and don't mind paying a fair price-I'm even willing to consider dealer financing. I just don't want it to be a battle. Welcome any thoughts.
