I just recently started a new position as an office assistant in a clinic, however it was not my first choice as it’s not related to the field in trying to work in and the pay is not the greatest. the job market is just really rough especially in my area.

At the time I had only heard from a few places and ended up getting rejects as they hired internally and this position was the only one that came back with positive news. So I accepted it in the meantime. Almost immediately after starting I get multiple calls back from places that align more with what I’m looking for in a job and now I have 2 interviews scheduled. Only problem is that while I tried to get the interviews on the same date so I only had one day to take off, that didn’t happen so now I need to take 2 days/some hours off on multiple days.

I literally just started this job though, it’s currently my second “week” here and I’m still going through training.

My first interview is this week on Friday at 10:30 and my next one is next Tuesday at 1pm, I was thinking of asking for an extended lunch hour on next Tuesday but I cant think of any reasoning, i obviously can’t say the interview but I also would like to avoid the whole “I have a doctors appointment” since i work in a clinic and my employer is already aware that I am “waiting” until my benefits start to make an appointment. I feel a little guilty about asking for time off so soon and because my reasons behind it…

Can anyone assist with how to approach this??
