Swollen and Discolored Lip
My beautiful little girl developed a swollen lip and slightly red gums this week! It's her upper lip, mostly on the right side of her mouth. It's swollen and discolored (red and brown). I'm thinking it might be a food allergy, but I'm not sure. We bought her Sheba kitten food this week, so that's the newest thing in her diet. She's had Sheba before, but it was the adult food. I don't know if the formula would be different enough to be causing an allergic reaction, but maybe?
All the Googling I've done is showing me some upsetting pictures that are not nearly as bad as hers, but they're making me nervous. I will take her to the vet, but her clinic doesn't have appointments available for another two weeks! They're also closed on weekends, so I won't be able to call them until Monday.
Since she's going to the SPCA to get her booster shot on Monday, I might ask them about her face or I'll swing by/call my vet clinic to see if they have any open appointments or advice. They're a VCA clinic, so I did an online chat with one of their techs last night who recommended cold compresses and getting an appointment.
I had cats growing up, but I've never had a cat of my own before and have never seen this! Any advice/input would be helpful. Thank you!
