Since vaporwave classics from Saint Pepsi, Telepath, and others get brought up so often, I was curious which albums could eventually achieve that same classic status within the community.
I'm fairly new to this genre (like 4 months). A friend showed me a video about breakdown of vaporwave, and I was immediately amazed by how artists create these vivid soundscapes. He introduced me to the classics like Telepath, Cat System Corp, and my personal favorite, Desert Sand Feels Warm at Night. I also joined Reddit to dig deeper and discover some more hidden gems, as i am a know rat. A few days ago, I came across an iceberg chart, which was exactly what I was looking for. Someone had even made a playlist featuring many of the albums from it, so I started going through the entries that caught my attention, mostly from the bottom two rows. That's how I found "Dnevnik". Even though I'm not familiar with Serbia, the album sounded incredibly fun and catchy. After listening to it, I noticed that Strmi had a Bandcamp page, so I clicked on it to see what else he had released, and man... I was not ready. For the past day or two, I've been listening through almost his entire discography (excluding the 150 song album), and wow... I'm genuinely amazed. I even showed the music to my friend (the one that showed me vaporwave), who had never heard of him before. He was impressed too and ended up buying one of the albums (Sessions).
I'm honestly have been having a blast listening to these. Every album had an eye catching cover that pulled me in, and the music always delivered. It's rare for an artist to make me want to immediately explore everything they've ever made, but that's exactly what happened here. Now I'm curious to discover even more hidden vaporwave artists. This experience has completely pumped me up to keep digging for obscure gems. So please you vaporwave experts link me some more eye catching artist that are worth a listen.
