What to do here?

first time trying a rock pattern on the spine and I ended up taking the pattern into the ricasso area. the scales, however, extend over part of the pattern so there are small gaps between the knife and scales. they are meant to be bolt on scales so there wont be epoxy.

what should I do here?

Removable Scale Fitting

Need some tips here: when I drill my holes in the scales, I've been using the knife holes as the guide, and using additional drill bits of the same size to keep everything lined up properly during drilling. I've found that even despite this, there is some play in the fitting, which has made shaping the edge of the scales and keeping them flush with the tang very difficult.

I've been doing everything I'm supposed to do (or so I thought) -- shaping the profile of the scales while lined up on the knife, but my issue is that because they are not epoxied onto the knife already, there is a small amount of play (maybe .005-.009") that leaves enough difference between the profile of the knife and scales to where I can feel it when running my fingers across the spine of the knife.

Another issue I'm running into is how to shape these scales when they are removable. I am planning to use gulso bolts as my final connection, but before putting them on the knife I need to shape the scales. Should I use smal amounts of super glue to keep them connected or would a small nut/bolt (sacrificial) be the way to go here.

Thank you in advance!

Anyone have some good suggestions for improving the symmetry of plunges as well as the slope/radius of the transition from the flat ricasso portion to the main blade bevel? I've been using a file guide but even with this I still end up with some haggard plunge lines.

When using the guide, I've found that if I hang the belt even 1mm off the edge of the platen, it gets caught in the file guide and just jacks everything up.

I have a waterfall platen, but haven't really enjoyed using it because I tend to mess up my grind lines if I didn't do a full flat grind. Also, the radius on the end is a bit larger than I would prefer for some of the smaller knives.
