What would you call this blade shape?

I'm forging a leaf spring, and what started as a kukri has ended up as this abomination. What would you call it? Clip point bolo maybe?

Ronin #2 This version comes with a 3.5" Kwaiken Blade with a differential Heat Treat & Hamon etch tho this one is a bit harder to see than on the Tanto. The stingray color was chosen by my awesome wife and it definitely makes this blade pop!

Might be a little boring to some, but Slate G10 is one of my favorites! 1/16" AEB-L

Finished a new design.

I just finished this knife for my buddy from New Brunswick 🇨🇦 as a gift. I ground the blade from CPM154 stainless, heat treated to 60.5 RHC. The scales I stabilized are Indian Rosewood with blue & black G10 liners. The sheath is veggie tanned 9 oz leather, dyed dark chocolate, hand sewn with tiger thread. The spirit bead on the lanyard I made from deer antler.

Question for Knifemakers

If I were to drill 3/16 holes in the back of this platen, spaced out by the quarter inch, but not all the way thru… would it help with heat dissipation or not? Has anyone tried something like this?

Question about 1x30

I’m new to knife making and I recently bought a Vevor 1x30 grinder. It comes with a flat plate and a larger rubber wheel to choose between at the “business end.” When would I use the rubber wheel, what’s its purpose?

Third knife, removing finished handle?

This is my third knife , using my two brick forge and a 1x30 belt sander. Although there’s lots to do better on, I’m particularly unhappy with the handle length. It was meant to run closer to the edge, but I made errors during alignment/drilling. It’s sort of ‘just’ serviceable right now.

These are epoxied on with brass pins. Would it be especially unwise to take a flap disc and just grind these off and start over to get the longer handles? Or just give this one away and start all over?

Any other general tips anyone has on grinding or similar is of course welcome.

Anteia - Hunter Knife

Anteia is a small hunting knife with a blade made from 1070 steel. Its curvature and edge geometry are designed for better performance in finer cutting tasks, such as field dressing, cleaning carcasses, and cutting meat, leather, and tendons. The blade features a satin black oxide finish. The guard is made from 1020 steel, with a side relief that allows for a more advanced and comfortable grip, with a phosphated finish. The handle is made from natural wood with a fiber pin.

I made a thing

I tried striking my projects by holding my touchmark by hand while trying to get it all lines up, straight & true. It's almost impossible, so i made a tool holder.

I forged a tang that was tapered and fit well in my hardy hole. I ground bevels in it, then welded it to a piece of flat stock I cut to size. After that, I got a piece of square tubing the size I needed and some flat stock. I cut everything to size and welded it up.

The first picture is my handy work trying to hold the touchmark by hand. The last picture is how it turned out while my tool holder held it.

Much improved.

Unhappy with finished product

Hi everyone, I finished this knife up today, I think it’s my 7th and I’m not very happy with it, I don’t really like how it looks. Is there anything specific I should look to fix on my next build? Thanks

First time engraving titanium

Grade 5 titanium work hardens so was a little tougher than expected. Not my best but still proud of myself for pushing through. Happy Sunday

BHK : Ronin # 1 This blade is quite special as it was an evolution in my making and my first time doing a Hamon heat treat which is a very meticulous & involved process.
