Help me understand the craze for Civil Service.

My father in law was a high ranking civil servant, and he understands nothing but civil service. He has been telling me about a cousin of his who was a judge that he wanted his daughter to marry someone from service family, but the daughter's father in law was an industrialist and he didn't like it. So basically these people prefer civil service over serious wealth. Why is that?

I think most domestic issues in our country stems out of man acting like boys

Our neighbour recently had a 'shalish' regarding 'their' wife. This is just absurd on so many different levels. Regardless of the issue at hand, how is the woman going to continue a healthy married life with her husband from that point onward!

Our society treats a wife as an attachment to the husband's parent's family. She has to adjust to not just her husband but all of his family members. Such a depressing thought!

I think a man needs to act like a man for a family to be happy. Once married he has a new family, he needs to create an appropriate environment for that family to thrive. But here comes the boyish part as a major obstacle-he is financially dependent on his family -doesn't have any authority in the family -doesn't know how to be responsible for someone (in most cases not even developed enough to be responsible toward themselves either)

This is an absolutely worse setting for two person to start a family together. I think women can only cope with this for the lack of self awareness and bullshit societal narrative.

A man should be the shield for his wife and children. A major part of being that shield is to make sure no one else can have any say in that regard. Unfortunately, we as a nation don't teach our sons how to be a man and that's a shame we bear every day in many aspects of life.

How do you manage your life as a regular job holder? I am a businessman and my life is quite different than everyone around me and it would be super difficult for me to do that, so I am just curious how do you manage your work-life balance.

I (M26) have an internet-based business with clients from around the world, and it allows me to work on my own schedule instead of clocking in and out at fixed hours. I am not too busy with my work, around 20 hours a week. About a week ago, my dog had a medical episode and needed daily vet visits for an entire week. Taking him to the vet every day made me realize that if I had a regular job, I probably wouldn’t have been able to manage that so easily. That experience is what led to this post.

I’m also a bit under the weather at the moment, just a cold, nothing serious, but it made me think about how uncomfortable it would be if I still had to show up at work regardless.

With my current work situation, I can spend time with my family and pets without my life being governed by office hours, weekends, or limited vacation days. Personally, I think that freedom is pretty amazing, and it would be difficult for me to do a traditional job, even a work from home role with a fixed schedule.

So, for those of you who work regular 9-5 jobs, how do you manage your work-life balance? How does that lifestyle affect your daily life? What are some of the good and bad sides of it in your opinion?

I recently learned from my wife that some mother in laws take wedding jeweleries from the new bride in the name of safekeeping. Why is that? Which demographic is this phenomenon prevalent in? Please do share your personal experience if you have faced this. Thanks.

I am just surprised to hear this. Why would someone take somebody else's jeweleries! That too the wedding ones!
