How Rebirth's aggro system actually works.

It has nothing to do with what character you're controlling. The enemies don't focus on only your playable character just because you're in control of them.

It comes down to a few things.

1.Who's attacking the enemy the most. (Which is shown in the first video)

  1. RNG (which is shown in my 2nd video but I'm unable to share more than one video on Reddit) it's Cloud attacking the most against Kujata in Bonds of friendship, but Kujata targets Zack multiple times.

  2. In a story boss fight the first enemy attack will target the party leader.

Phase 2 the first enemy attack will always target the character you start that phase with. (Everything else in-between is down to points 1 and 2 mentioned above)

Very interesting stuff and it can really give you an upper hand in fights if you know how the aggro system works.

Theory time, but before I start I would like to mention... I think the Devs did a fantastic job at making us believe what we see is really happening. Making us, the player hallucinate alongside Cloud which makes us question wtf is going on, because we're seeing most things through Cloud's perspective. Also I took the picture from Google image because I'm too lazy and writing all this has messed up my eyes 😅

This post is pretty long considering it's mostly about one particular scene and a few things that come afterwards. Some things mentioned might be obvious, but I'm not sure we'll get an actual answer until part 3.

(Theory)

I think Sephiroth isn't even in this scene. (Picture shown above) It's the whispers and mostly everything we see here is in Cloud's mind.

Now watch this scene again with that in mind. Aerith "whispers?!"

Cloud "No... Sephiroth"

The scene continues with Tifa trying to stop Cloud.

Cloud pushes her aside and goes after Aerith for the orb.

Is the orb even present in this scene? Are we even hearing the true dialogue from Aerith, or is that also part Cloud's hallucination?

Every single moment we see materia exchange hands, we see them physically touching... but in this particular moment we see it float towards Cloud from Aerith instead.

The orb drops through Sephiroth's hand at first (illusion slightly broken and not fully taking power over Cloud's mind)

Then we see the orb next time actually making contact. (Illusion fully taking power over Cloud)

When Cloud awakens from his slumber the dialogue between characters doesn't make any sense. At first I assumed it was because we see Cloud enter through to a new world within the lifestream, but now I wonder... was a lot of it just in Cloud's mind.

I feel at this moment and beyond, Cloud is truly lost and some dialogue and scenes will be difficult to know what's real and what's false.

Cloud wakes up and the rest of the gangs dialogue is strange. There's no mention of the fall what so ever.

Barret "Didn't know if it was mako poisoning or the degradation, but I thought you were done for."

Yuffie "So, Cloud.... I heard something from Aerith. She said Sephiroth kicked the ever-livin' crap outta you back in the Temple of the Ancients." Yuffie also mentions Sephiroth having the (black materia) just before her last dialogue. (Yes the black materia, not the orb, which makes me believe Cloud's hearing shit)

Tifa "Hey, Cloud, promise me. If you start feeling sick or... thinking weird thoughts.... you'll let us know. Okay?"

So what's Sephiroth's plan...well at least part of his plan?

Tifa watching Cloud completely lose his mind again must be some scary shit. He's already tried to kill Marco, Johnny, Tifa, Elana, then slaughters an innocent robed guy walking the halls at the temple and now he's after Aerith. (Every single time Tifa is there to witness it all apart from one particular moment at the end...

Aerith dies and a part of Tifa must wonder... Did Cloud do this? Did he kill Aerith....

I'm sure this is one piece of Sephiroth's plan. To try and make the bonds between characters break apart. Tifa is a huge threat because she's the one that eventually helps him repair his memories through the lifestream segment and snaps him back to reality.

Old footage but I thought I would share it and make it public.

Cloud's Counterfire has built in Reprisal. This means you can tank damage even if you have only 1HP and the enemy deals 9999k damage.

Heya FF7 fans! 🙂 I've seen a lot of people giving each other high praise for getting their platinum or being very supportive to those doing challenge runs which is amazing!

I thought perhaps it's time to reshare my achievement with the group, because last time it got hardly any attention and just got downvoted 😢😅 Any who... it took me 11 months non stop and a lot of sleepless nights to reach my goal. (Yeah I know it's not healthy... A little too late for that lol)

About the challenge!

It's a full story mode, hard mode, no damage/no hit run. Complete with all cutscenes and a couple of other restrictions such as:

No Götterdämmerung, No Genji gear, No HP-MP Swap Materia, No Armour - Elemental Materia.

A little bit about me and my reasons for me starting this challenge:

I grew up not being able to afford a console of my own, but was fortunate enough to have an older brother, who had a friend that owned a PS1 and a copy of the OG FF7, which he was kind enough to let us borrow.

I fell immediately in love with it's characters, battle system and world.

Fast forward to the launch of FF7 Rebirth and unfortunately my life took a turn for the worst.

Sadly my nan passed away...I've never experienced death before, atleast not with someone I was so close to. It hit me so hard... but instead of completely giving up I turned to FF7 Rebirth to keep me distracted and get me through the pain. Probably not the best way to cope, but it helped... and this is where my journey to attempting such an insane challenge started.

Roughly six months into my run my eyedight deteriorated due to blood inside the eyes blocking my vision.

Pretty much blind at this point and I was ready to give up, but the loss of losing my nan and my love for the game kept me going. "Our greatest weaknesses, bring out our greatest strengths"

The challenge just got EVEN more difficult, so I had to find a few work arounds. Similar to how a blind person can play a piano fluently, I started to find things that helped me overcome my new weaknesses.

Relying on sound cues, mathematics and creating a strategy that took in consideration the most likely RNG outcome in fights.

Finally after 11 months of complete torture and fun I reached my goal and achieved something no one else has ever done before in a Final Fantasy game.

The shackles were finally gone, the pain subsided and my loss is now a memory of the good times and are no longer drowning in sadness.

You know that empty feeling people got after completing FF7 Rebirth and finally realising your journey has come to an end? Times that by a million and that's how I felt after the lights went out and the victory theme song had finished.

I would like to end this on a happy note, and say my eye sight has improved a little now, and I'm really excited for part 3! Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to read my story.🙂❤️
