I made a tool for my upcoming campaign

https://gm-board.web.app/

For the past few weeks, I’ve been working on Crystal Codex, a browser-based companion for fabula ultima campaigns.

I started this project because I’ll soon be running a campaign at home. I wanted to use my projector to display combat scenes like a classic JRPG, while allowing my players to keep their characters updated and accessible from their phones.

Crystal Codex lets you create and play characters and NPCs, manage campaigns, share read-only character sheets, and prepare synchronized scenes that can be displayed on a separate screen during play. The interface is inspired by 32-bit JRPGs and is designed to feel like a game menu rather than a traditional management application.

The project is still in development, and my campaign starts this Sunday, so it will soon have its first real test at the table.

I’m sharing it because I’d love for people to try it and tell me what they think. Bug reports, confusing interactions, missing rules, and suggestions for improvement would all be greatly appreciated.

I’m building an online companion for Fabula Ultima campaigns

For the past few weeks, I’ve been working on Crystal Codex, a free online tool for managing Fabula Ultima characters, NPCs, and campaigns.

My own Fabula Ultima campaign starts this Sunday, and I originally began this project because I wanted to use the projector in my living room to present battles as if we were playing a classic JRPG. At the same time, I wanted my players to have their character sheets on their phones and see them update while we play.

You can try it here:

https://gm-board.web.app

Players can create their characters, manage their classes, skills, equipment, spells, resources, and special abilities, and use a mobile-friendly Play Mode during the session. Characters can also be kept private or shared with friends through a read-only link.

Game Masters can create and manage NPCs, including attacks, spells, abilities, affinities, status effects, and more complex bosses. There is also a public NPC library called The Codex, where users can share NPCs with the community or copy existing ones into their own collection and customize them.

The main feature I’m currently working toward is the campaign scene system. The Game Master can prepare encounters, add PCs and NPCs, manage turns and rounds, apply damage, healing, and status effects, create clocks, and reveal treasure or narrative notes.

Each campaign also has a public scene view that can be shown through a projector. It presents the party, enemies, villains, health bars, clocks, status effects, and turn order with a visual style inspired by 32-bit JRPGs and the original PlayStation era.

The Game Master’s screen, the projected scene, and the players’ character sheets are synchronized in real time. My goal is for everyone to see changes immediately during the game, without needing to reload the page or manually save every action.

The project is still in development, and my own campaign will be its first real test this Sunday. I’m sure there are bugs, missing interactions, and many things that can be improved.

That’s why I’m sharing it now: I’d love for people to try it and tell me what they think. If you find a bug, a rule that isn’t working correctly, something confusing, or an improvement that would make it more useful during a session, please let me know.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking a look at Crystal Codex!
