Question about massive combat

Has anyone run any combat against a massive amount of enemies or any idea how one could run something like that?

Think something like the battle for helms deep in lotr. Loads of weak enemies that might go down in one hit but together still pose a threat to the PCs.

Mutant's Akromorphosis

I'll make it quick: does that ability passively make your Unarmed Strikes into WEAPONS, do you need to chamge their category for them to become weapons, or do they remain Unarmed Strikes? How does it work exactly?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

There is a silly thing I do whenever I start diving into a new TTRPG. How would I build the Ninja Turtles, along with their allies and villains. To my knowledge, there has never been a JRPG style Turtles game, but I was hoping to see what everyone else would stat those characters out as.

Any ideas for a cool boss?

My players are heading to the country's capital via a secret mountain pass that opens into a dungeon, and I'm thinking of placing the campaign's first boss there. Does anyone have any cool ideas?

Players unfamiliar with jrpgs

Hello ultimates!

I recently got this game and I’m really want to try it out. I love the feel of the rulebook and how it reminds of the many game guides I’ve read.

However, my regular group consists of three people who’ve never played a jrpg in their entire lives. Has anyone else tried playing Fabula Ultima with a group like that? Any tips on how to get them into the vibe and system without making them play Chrono Trigger and FF9 first?

How to do combat in GM-less games

Hi everybody ! I'm here once again with another question.

The title says it all : how would you/how do you manage combat when there is no GM, either because it's a solo game or because everyone is a player ?
My friend and I are both players and GMs at the same time, both creating the world and plot as well as checking rules, and we haven't got combat yet, because we don't really know how to handle it.
The main issue is that we loose all the part of searching for affinities, because if we both manage the HP of the enemy, then almost all its sheet becomes pointless.
How can we avoid that, and how can we have a entertaining combat system for the two of us ?

I drew a title illustration/cover art for a campaign I'm running :3

I've just started a new 1-on-1 campaign with my bf and wanted to draw a fitting title illustration for it in a similar style to Yoshitaka Amano's Final Fantasy logos. It depicts the planet/goddess/mothercrystal Thelema, whose Twinning of people's souls in twain is a central aspect of the setting. I'm super duper pleased with how it turned out^^

Let me know if you have any questions about the campaign or anything!

I would appreicate help with Urban Fantasy setting.

I was hoping to get some ideas for an Urban or Modern fantasy setting. I love games like TWEWY, but I always seem to have trouble converting anything to Modern fantasy. Any good ideas on converting some of the classes and weapons to have more of a Modern feeling? Like I'd prefer my players to not just go around carrying guns and swords.

I love the idea of like the Symbolist being more like a graffiti artist, a Weaponmaster whose flail is just a yoyo and so on.

Loremaster Focused question

Hi...first post to this subreddit. I'm in a weekly Fabula Ultima game and we're about to hit 19. Thinking of taking Loremaster.

Question about the Focused skill. You can take it five times.

One of the features is: Permanently increase your maximum Mind Points by [SL×3]

Does this mean you get SLx3 each time you take it again or a total of SLx3?

Option A
SL 1 = add 3MP
SL 2 = add 6MP (9 total)
SL 3 = add 9MP (18 total)
SL 4 = add 12MP (30 total)
SL 5 = add 15MP (45 total)

Option B
SL 1 = Add 3 more to you max MP
SL 2 = Add 3 more to your max MP (6 total)
SL 3 = Add 3 more to your max MP (9 total)
SL 4 = Add 4 more to your max MP (12 total)
SL 5= Add 5 more to your max MP (15 total)

B seems more likely since an extra 45MP is a lot for this game.

Printable Character Sheet(s)

I really, REALLY wanted character sheets for my players that were:

A: Printer friendly

B: Generic rather than class specific

C: Were more than 15 pixels /s

I couldn't find a good generic one, so I made my own. I hope people find it helpful!

-The document has two pages, with the second page wholly dedicated to classes
-I made everything in Affinity
-I am aware this is probably not perfect, and am willing to make adjustments if anyone catches errors (I haven't used Affinity before, and was wrangling with that. Sorry!!)

Just got Fabula Ultima for Solo play, how flexible is the game with genres?

I know there are supplements that act as setting guides but am talking strictly the base game. Could I in theory make a urban fantasy like the Persona series or should I accept that am gonna go fantasy with this one. I'll still play it either way am just asking. Looks like fun from what am reading.

Nova diciplina pra rituais.

What do you think is the ideal level range to get your first heroic skill?

You can technically get a heroic skill at level 11 if you put all but one of your levels into a single class, but I feel like that’s not what the author had in mind, so what do you think is a good level to aim for? I feel like 13-16 is pretty good but I haven’t actually ran a campaign yet.

Player's Pilot frustration

Hello

One of my players has a Pilot and his personating a power ranger with Mecha frame being a Megazord.

In few situation where they were in a room or a corridor there wasnt enough space to fit the Mecha (obviously), and player told me game after game thinks pilot is an useless class that needs a buff. He has seat modules and such and said he has to use equip action to change them. He said it makes no sense have as much Def as a normal person even when being in the mecha, or mecha weapon doing same or less damage than other players. Also told that you could pick any other class and it would have the same but better as Pilot.

I stopped him right away, and say that he can spawn mecha when mecha fits in the scene, and the group could always move or try to run somewhere where he could use that unless theyre specifically trapped. Dices rules about this. Also told him much like PCs equipment he can start the mecha with any module on he fits instead seats from start, but then would need the equipment action to change modules mid conflict. I told him that Pilot doesnt need a buff of any sort and its not the class fault have lack of damage or defense, because he choosed what skills and classes picked for his build.

He then talked like childish behaviour and im somewhat frustrated hearing BS (short terms).

-----

When i started this Adventurers League project i expected to be really JRPG alike, and i have few players that are good about it, but certain group of players just powercreeps, asks for more, ask for buffs...even, this player told he wanted to pick mutant for his robot, and i told it doesnt make much sense and what he wanted could be accomplished with Pilot, and after few argues about this he just says im gonna pick mutant anyways, ignoring my DM word, just because mutant is strong and suits his build. Mechanical>Roleplay thing

Best session thanks to a sandcastle contest

Last week was the 10th session of the campaign I mastered with my friends. It's our first campaign, and so far we have had a blast.

The introduction arc ended 2 sessions ago, and my players decided to go to a beach resort and have some rest. I organised a little festival in the city. Every day they can participate in a mini-game. The one who wins the festival can ask something of the king. To add drama, the festival is organised because of the king's wedding, and one player is his daughter. She wants to stop this wedding and beat her childhood friends in this tournament.

The second day was a sand sculpture contest. They found the idea fun and wanted to help the princess's little brother win. But there is a twist: it's magical sand. It can be animated, and you can destroy other sculptures. Moreover, they know that some pirates they already met want to destroy other sculptures to win.

This contest began small. They described there sculptures and roll to get the quality of there sculptures. But it ended in a sand kaiju battle, with a big sand wave fighting a pirate ship and an old attack tower, an Arcanum, and some sea ostriches fighting a sand tornado and a big ball of wool.

My players wanted to win so much that they used lots of Fabula Points to reroll, but they had multiple critical fails so it went sour quick ! But they were more invested in this fight than in our regular fight scenes. This was so cool!

Next game will be a surf competition and a beach volleyball tournament, and we are all hyped!

Lategame dungeon ideas

Hi all,

I GM a group of 4 players and we're nearing the end of the campaign, about one large ancient dungeon left to explore with the BBEGs squad waiting within. The party comp is... odd with everyone taking MIG as a dump stat compared to one member, who is building HP and only HP. Often with overheal from the tinkerer, i find myself not doing damage at to the group, since HP guy intercepts attacks then gets overhealed again as soon as he even gets close to crisis. I dont want to "win," but when they talk about how much of a steamroll or how easy the bosses are getting, I want to provide a decent challenge, something to give them a good taste of the "stakes" near the end of the campaign. EDIT: he intercepts one single attack per round, and multi does indeed hit twice its just usually healed up or overhealed the next round. Any ideas?
