Adding nuance to archetypes

One of the main protagonists in my story will be covering the "horny bard" archetype, without altering that too much I'd love some insight on how to potentially avoid the feeling of "this has been done 1 billion times" or some common pitfalls to avoid making the character seem boring and one note.
It is fantasy/western if that helps at all.
