Left autumn leaves in the pond over winter, causing the water to become cloudy/grey/stagnant. Recently added back a pump to get some oxygen, and bought some hornwort, but not sure if I should now stop the pump to let the pond recover on its own?
As the title said, the leaves that were left in there since last autumn must have overwhelmed the pond, bad anaerobic smells anytime the water was disturbed and cloudy, bacteria-looking water. It's since recovered slightly since adding the pump which turns on for a few hours at night and during the day. I threw some hornwort and watercress in there the other day, and now I'm not sure if I should stop disturbing the water with the pump and just let it do its thing. Any advice is appreciated! Thank you
