10 days self-drive itinerary

10 days self-drive itinerary

Hello Guys, we are preparing our self-drive trip to Namibia in a month with a 4x4 Jimmy. We will stay in budget friendly lodges and guest farms. Can you please have a look on our planned itinerary and tell me about your thoughts? If you have any suggestions, recommendations (mainly places to stop along the way), please feel free to let me know. I added 2-3 hours extra for the driving hours compared what Google Maps said. Thank you for your help

Etosha itinerary: Damaraland → Andersson Gate enter → Namutoni exit in one day?

Dear All,

We have booked our Namibia trip for early October and now I am planning the logistic and driving between places.

We will have 2x nights in Etosha, and I have some doubts about the 1st day. We will stay at Tsubes Petrified Forest Tented Camp (Damarland) the night before. My plan is: we will leave the camp at sunrise and drive straight to Etosha via Andersson Gate. We would drive through Etosha, spend the day there and would exit via whether Namutoni or King Nehale Gate. (Our accommodation is at Ndeyapo’s Village Haven close to Omuthiya). Is this doable? I mean driving from Damarland to Etosha, than crossing the park with some wildlife watching? Our next day would be fully in Etosha and probably we would stay on the east side of the park. Any recommendations are welcomed.

Am I too late booking everything for a self-driving trip in early July for a late Sep- early Oct trip?

Hey Guys! We are planning to make a 10-11 days self-driving trip in Namibia in late September- early October. I am reading everywhere that 6-12 months is the ideal to book car and accommodation in advance. For other reasons, we will be able to buy the flight tickets in the first days of July and also start booking cars and lodges. We don’t want to camp and we would try to do as low budget as possible (appr. 2000-2500 EUR in total excluding flight tickets). But I am really in doubt if we are too late and maybe we should postpone the trip for next year, and start the booking earlier. We are flexible, so we don’t mind staying 30-60 min drive from the spots (i.e. in Sossusvlei or Etosha) in order to find cheaper alternatives and we would do the classic Windhoek-Sossusvlei-Swakopmund-Spitzkoppe-Damarland-Etosha route, so I am not sure if we even need 4x4 and maybe an SUV would be sufficient. Booking.com does not show many options, and what I could find, those are way out of our budgets, so this is why I am in doubt, or maybe I am just searching wrongly. Any suggestions are welcome.
